Fast Five: Big Weekend for Bulldogs

Fast Five: Big Weekend for Bulldogs

What a weekend it was for the Bulldogs in the SEC. Georgia and Mississippi State picked up 12 commitments between the two of them...

What a Day in Starkville
There had to be a lot of high-fives and hugs going out on Friday. Mississippi State picked up seven commitments for the 2015 and one for 2016 on the day of Big Dawg Camp. Hoover, Ala. wide reciever Justin Johnson got it started Friday afternoon and it was a huge day for Dan Mullin and his coaching staff. Safety Jamal Peters of Bassfield, Miss. was the highlight of the night being a national recruit and a Scout 100 prospect. There was big news on four-star linebacker Leo Lewis too -- he gave Alabama a call and decommitted, then competed at Big Dawg Camp. For all the details an in-depth coverage, head over to Gene's Page, one of the top team sites on Scout.

Two for 15, Two for 16
The top commitment for Georgia did not happen at Dawg Night, it happened about 24 hours later when 2016 Scout 100 quarterback Jacob Eason announced he is a Dawg. The biggest part of that story is, Eason is from Lake Stevens, Wash. all the way across the country. At the same time Eason committed, so did Scout 100 junior offensive lineman Ben Cleveland. The Dawgs flipped a Florida commitment on Saturday and added another one on Friday. Dawg Post will bring you up to speed on the new Dawgs and much more.

Four-star Flipping?
Ronnie Harrison is still a North Carolina commitment today, but will he be come July 29? Harrison was at Alabama over the weekend with his family and the Crimson Tide made a big impression. The four-star out of Tallahassee (Fla.) Florida High plans to visit LSU later this week. He has a great relationship with Dan Disch at UNC, so we will see if that helps the Tar Heels hang on here. Alabama looks to be trending right now.

Big Day in Knoxville
Another SEC school with a successful weekend in terms of recruiting was Tennessee. The Vols added two for the 2015 class and two for the 2016 class. Two of the commitments are out of Texas, one if from Florida, and one from Tennessee. All four commitments are three stars on Scout and you can learn more about each at Inside Tennessee.

Five-star Heading South?
Scout and all other media outlets that were at Florida State last Thursday saw five-star defensive end Josh Sweat there. He spent time on the FSU campus and the Seminoles made their move. Virginia Tech has been looked at as the favorite for some time for the Chesapeake (Vir.) Oscar Smith native, but Florida State and Georgia have put their names in the hat as well. The two schools in the South really have Sweat's attention and his recruitment is one to follow the next month or so with a decision possible.
