Arkansas is looking at former White Hall and current Eastern Arizona fullback/linebacker Tim Cook as…
Home Grown Gila Monster On Tour
Former White Hall and current Eastern Arizona fullback/linebacker Tim Cook already has 11 offers, but there is another potential offer out there that could be special. Cook (6-1, 235), a former high school teammate of current Arkansas tight end Jeremy Sprinkle, will take an unofficial visit to Fayetteville on Thursday and hopes that an offer from the Razorbacks could be forthcoming down the line. "I feel really good about the 11 offers that I have and they are some great schools, but I grew up loving the Razorbacks and an offer from them would certainly complicate things with the others," Cook said. "I would love to be back on the same team with Jeremy. He has great things to say about the head coach (Bret Bielema) and the program and where it is headed." Cook had 11 sacks among his school-record 174 tackles and also rushed for 903 yards and 16 touchdowns during his senior season at White Hall. He had plans to walk on at Arkansas out of high school, but ended up redshirting at Butler County, Kan., Community College and then transferred to Eastern Arizona for his redshirt freshman campaign. He spent most of his time at fullback while rushing for 223 yards and having seven tackles in seven games for the Gila Monsters last season, but also worked at defensive end and linebacker this spring. "Most schools that are recruiting me are doing it as an athlete because they think I have the ability to play to play several positions," Cook said. "Some like me as a big back, others like Wisconsin think I would be better on the defensive side of the ball at linebacker." Cook says schools that have offered him so far are Louisville, Cincinnati, California, Wisconsin, North Texas, Alabama-Birmingham, Utah and Colorado State. He plans to visit at least four schools this summer. "I am going to go see Arkansas this week and then go see both Louisville and Cincinnati since they are close to each other," Cook said. "All those will be unofficial visits and then I will take an official visit to Cal-Berkley later this summer." He is very familiar with former Arkansas and current Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino, who was encouraging him to walk on as a Razorback when he was still the head coach. "He sees me as a big back and obviously I know him and some of the staff so there is a comfort level there," Cook said. "I'm looking forward to going on that visit and seeing what it is all about." He is also excited about the Arkansas trip. It's just a short drive from Pine Bluff, where he is spending his summer taking a few college courses so he will be a December graduate and able to go through spring drills. "Arkansas is where I wanted to be in the first place, but Jeremy had his grades in order, but I didn't have mine so I had to take a different path," Cook said. "Maybe I'll get the chance again and will be ready this time." Tim Cook Tim Cook picked up 10 yards while pushing this pile in a game during a 13-10 loss to Glendale last season.
