Pratt Emerging as One of State's Best

High Point (NC) safety Germaine Pratt has become a hot commodity on the recruiting trail. Pack Pride has the latest on his recent visit to NC State.

High Point (NC) standout Germaine Pratt is one of the top safety prospects in the state of North Carolina and he had a chance to visit NC State recently.

Rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com, Pratt holds early offers from NC State, UNC, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Virginia.

At 6-3, 195 pounds the rising senior had 94 tackles, six interceptions and four pass breakups as a junior. That has helped solidify his place as a major target for the Wolfpack coaching staff. He talked with Pack Pride about his most recent trip to Raleigh.

"I got to know Coach McNutt and Coach White. I talked to the head coach a little bit too," he said.

The NC State coaches made it clear to Pratt that he's the type of player they're seeking out to build their team headed forward.

"They said they need a player like me at their school to help them build up their defense and do what they want to do," he said. "They said they need players like me to come in and help them."

That's a message that stuck with Pratt because it spoke to playing time and how the coaches felt about him.

With no other college visits on the horizon Pratt will be thinking about that trip for a good long while.

Both the Wolfpack and Tar Heels are making the case that Pratt ought to stay close to home while outsiders like Notre Dame, Tennessee and Virginia are trying to pull him in a different direction.

Pratt said he remains wide open and does not have a top three, top five or any list of favorites. That's not likely to change anytime soon either.

"I'm just gonna wait and take my officials and figure out everything from there," he said.
