Played offense where he allowed just one sack all season and recorded 32 pancake blocks. Named 1st team All-State as a senior by the Clarion Ledger.

2005 - High School Football:
Played offense and defense. A three-year starter on offense at right tackle and a two-year starter at the defensive tackle position. On the defensive side of the ball, he recorded 93 tackles, 4 sacks and 3 fumble recoveries; Sherrod benches 325 pounds, squats 390 and has a vertical jump of 30".

For his efforts, Derek was a District 2-3A Super 22 selection. He also was picked by The Commercial Dispatch to their Pre-season Elite 11, the top 11 players in their coverage area.

Sherrod reports a 3.5 GPA and a 23 ACT.

Sherrod: “I’m a good leader and I have the ability to fly off the ball and have great fundamentals,” Sherrod said. “I do all the little things well, but I want to improve my lower body strength and work on staying low.”
