John Keim updates Redskins fans on injuries as well as a few locker room topics.
Midweek Report Injury report:
Defensive end
Phillip Daniels
(knee), right guard
Randy Thomas
(elbow) and corner
John Eubanks
(toe) did not practice. Receiver
James Thrash
, who missed the past four weeks with a high ankle sprain, participated in all of practice and should be fine for Sunday.
For New York, receiver
Plaxico Burress
(ankle), safety
James Butler
(hamstring), safety
Craig Dahl
(ankle), corner
Aaron Ross
(hamstring), end
Michael Strahan
(rest) and safety
Gibril Wilson
(knee) all did not practice.
Locker room topic No. 1:
Todd Collins
. Turns out he’s a bit of a quirky guy, sniffing footballs on occasion because he likes the smell of cowhide. "He has a great sense of humor," receiver Antwaan Randle El said. "It’s dry, but it’s so funny. He has a way of making you laugh when he’s not really trying to make you laugh, but you think he is. We’ll have a sign that says there’s an 8:30 meeting and he’ll say, ‘What time is the 8:30 meeting?’ See what I mean?"
Locker room topic No. 2:
The Giants’ pass rush. New York has 47 sacks and Michael Strahan will be going against rookie
Stephon Heyer
. That’s not the matchup Washington wants. But the Redskins can help Heyer by sliding the pocket, having a tight end on his side or with quick passes. The latter reason is why it’s good to have Collins. His immobility won’t help, but his ability to throw quick will help.
Joe Gibbs says: "It doesn’t do any good to say we’re not thinking about [the playoffs]. It’ll be written about. It’ll all be figured out. It’s not like you can ignore it and I don’t ignore it. But it doesn’t do any good unless we win Sunday night. That’s the next step."
