STARKVILLE, Miss. - MSU junior outfielder Luke Adkins has been named to the all-decade team by the Cal Ripken Senior Baseball League team in
Maryland that he has competed for over the past two summers.
Adkins was one of three players added to the Bethesda Big Train’s all-decade team following 2008 summer collegiate league competition. He
compiled a .316 batting average in the recently-concluded season, earning a berth on the Cal Ripken Senior Baseball League’s 2008
all-star team. The former Nettleton High School standout sat out the 2008 season at MSU after transferring from Southern Miss. In two
seasons and more than 50 games with the Big Train, Adkins owns a team-best .322 career batting average.
He becomes the second Mississippi State player named to Bethesda’s all-decade team, joining former Bulldog first baseman and current
Starkville resident Brian LaNinfa (2004-07) on the honor team.
Under the guidance of new State head coach John Cohen, Adkins and his current MSU teammates begin six weeks of fall baseball practice
September 19 at Dudy Noble Field.
