The MSU commitment scoreboard update is a free weekly feature that allows readers to keep up with how the current Mississippi State football commitments are doing in their final season before arriving in Starkville.

Justin Cox and defending 5A state champ West Point got their season off to a roaring start by dispatching Shannon 39-14.

Shannon was the only team to defeat the Green Wave last season, so there was a bit of redemption for West Point.

Cox was in the mix on just about every big play in the first half staking West Point to a lead they would never relinquish.

Scout was on hand to video this contest and we will have highlights posted at a later date.

Joe Morrow had five catches for 53 yards in a short evening as Ocean Springs got the better of Warren Central to the tune of 35-0.

Joe took the game's first play 20 yards and converted three other first downs. A pretty efficient evening for the talented wide out.

Scout was on hand for this game as well and we will have highlights posted at a later date.

C.J. Johnson and the Philadelphia defense pitched a shut out as the visitors from South Leake were blasted 49-0.

Zach Jackson and Heidelberg have seen better days. Raleigh pretty much had their way with the Oilers 41-6.

Rufus Warren and Gentry lost a heartbreaker to Greenville-Weston 15-14.

Darion Arrington scored his second touchdown with just over two minutes to go in the fourth, but the Tomcat defense could not hold that late lead.

Long Beach scored with just over 27 seconds left to bring the final score to 32-27.

Scout was also on hand for this contest and we will have highlights at a later date.

Daniel Knox watched from the sidelines as his Knights fell to Meridian 28-7. Knox will be back in action prior to district play.

All other MSU commitments are still awaiting their change to lift the lid on the 2010 season.

Nick Redmond and Harrison Central will host D'iberville next weekend.

Jermaine Whitehead and Amada-Elzy will travel to Leflore County.

James Maiden and Devin Fosselman will cross the county line and take on Natchez who knocked off Jefferson County on Friday.

In two weeks:

Darius Slay and Itawamba Community College will take on Hinds and Leon Mackey.

Devonte Scott and Ferriday will travel to Natchez.

Josh Robinson and Franklinton will play at Abilene in a Saturday contest.

Dak Prescott and Haughton will host Airline.
