Junior running back Robert Elliott believes a successful season is ahead for the Mississippi State football program.

"If we give 100%, work hard and don't make mistakes I feel like we have a chance to win a lot of games," said the veteran running back.

And he believes the foundation is being laid to continue that success into the future.

"All of (the young guys) have looked good, from (Nick) Griffin to (Michael) Carr, really all of them have looked good," said the 6-2, 215-pounder.

But he expects nothing less from the newcomers due to the recruiting efforts of MSU head football coach Dan Mullen and his assistant coaches.

"I knew about all these guys when they came on their visits. I know they are all the real deal," said Elliott. "Coach Mullen doesn't recruit anybody but the best because he doesn't want anything but the best for this program."

Mullen and staff got them on campus and the assistant coaches will help them improve their skills, but the veteran players will help them deal with the rest, veterans such as Elliott.

"I tell them to give your all during every practice," said Elliott. "If you are going to make a mistake, make it going 100 miles per hour."
