Six-Run Inning Boosts Dogs Past Toppers 9-3

Mississippi State tuned-up for the first road trip of the 2010 season with one of their best efforts of the early campaign. Six pitchers combined to limit Western Kentucky to a couple of scoring innings, while Bulldog batters put together one great big turn that provided all the margin of 9-3 victory Wednesday night at Dudy Noble Field.

"Overall it was a pretty good performance," agreed Coach John Cohen after the Diamond Dogs improved to 9-3 on the young season. Western Kentucky left at 9-4, having lost only the second-ever meeting of the two programs. Still the Hilltoppers were no pushover and at the half-way point of the affair led 3-1.
