Associate A.D. Mike Richey reported that last week produced over 300 orders for next fall's season tickets. Mississippi State's athletic administration, naturally looking to build on the celebrations resulting from a 41-27 victory in Coach Dan Mullen's first Egg Bowl, is taking these orders far earlier than ever. And the response has been encouraging.
Given that State moved the milestones for season ticket sales this year, early orders of 300 ducats might not seem a big deal on the face of things. But Richey explains that all of these are 'new' tickets; that is, season tickets purchased either by folk who were not prior buyers, or by existing ticket-holders placing new, different orders.
Thus all these early orders can ultimately be added to the anticipated renewals from 2009. And many of the latter will certainly try to increase their quota of tickets as possible. Mississippi State is not actively going after renewals at this moment.
The 2010 slate has the same number of home games, seven, and State is holding the ticket price-line at $240.
The Bulldogs completed Mullen's debut year with a 5-7 record, including three SEC victories. Mullen became just the third Bulldog coach in 70 years to win his first meeting with Ole Miss, joining Allyn McKnee (1939) and Jackie Sherrill (1991).
