SURREY, British Columbia - Mississippi State head coach Jay Miller and catcher Chelsea Bramlett have helped the United States Women’s National Softball Team to a perfect 4-0 start through the first half of round-robin play at the 2009 Canada Cup in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

Miller’s squad has won all four games by the run-ahead rule, including a 10-0 blanking of host Canada Monday night. The U.S. opens the second half of round-robin play Tuesday night, challenging an Australia squad it defeated 7-0 in five innings on July 4.

Bramlett, who is featured in “Faces in the Crowd” in the July 6 issue of Sports Illustrated, has seen action in three games behind the plate for the Red, White and Blue. The three-time NFCA First Team All-American collected her first international hit, stolen base and run in the first inning of Sunday’s 8-1 win over the Netherlands.

Fans can follow Miller and Bramlett as they blog about their USA Softball experience on www.mstateathletics.com.
