Collins' Shot Gives Margin Of 9-8 MSU Victory

Ryan Collins was already having a career night, with four hits in as many trips. But it was that fifth safety that was best and meant most, as the Bulldog rightfielder pulled a curveball over rightfield for a two-run homer that became the margin of Mississippi State's 9-8 victory over Middle Tennessee. And yes, Collins said, he had a notion there in the bottom of the eighth.

"Tie ball game, guy on first, you're looking for a pitch you can drive," he said. "Hopefully hit a gap or if you get lucky hit it out of the ball park and take the lead." Which is what Collins did.
