MSU Signee Has a 3-1 Record
"It's going good, but I'm not where I would like to be right now," said Bole, who, in addition to baseball, also started at quarterback for his high school football team. "I'm 3 and 1 right now. I got beat by Northwest Rankin of Mississippi in late February." As for improvements in his pitching, he's continuing to work on that. "I'm pretty much where I was in the summer, although I would like to get my (velocity) up a little bit," said the 6-3, 190-pounder. "Right now, it's 87 to 91 consistently. I'm working on it, though." Considered one of the top two or three pitchers in Alabama's senior class, Major League Baseball scouts have made it a point of attending his games. "Several scouts have watched me pitch this spring," said Bole. "I really can't remember exactly how many, but I think there may have been 15 or 16 at the Hoover game." And based on how well he did in the game - 12 strikeouts - they probably came away impressed. "I did good in that game, but it was cold that day," said Bole, who owns a four-year high school record of 21-2. After having turned down offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, North Carolina, South Alabama, North Florida and Kennesaw State to sign with Mississippi State, Luke is expected to have to make another baseball decision in June. "Luke is a very athletic, highly-skilled left-handed pitcher and has the potential to have power stuff --- a power breaking ball and a power fastball," said Mississippi State head baseball coach John Cohen. "He'll probably face another decision after the professional draft in June, but we're thrilled that he is a Bulldog." Look for more updates on Luke Bole over the course of the next three months.
