The weekend schedule kicks off Saturday at 1 p.m. with an alumni golf
tournament at the MSU Golf Course, followed by a dinner in the Bryan
Athletic Administration Building. Capping the weekend will be the 2008
alumni baseball game, with Diamond Dogs of the past teaming with members
of the 2009 Mississippi State team in a Maroon/White game at Dudy Noble
Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and is open to the public with no
charge for admission.
"Saturday will be a full day with the golf tournament and the alumni
dinner," said MSU baseball administrative assistant Greg Drye.
"We're giving the alumni game a different twist this year,
with the returning alumni playing alongside our current players. It's
an opportunity for our current players to get to know some of the past
players who have been a part of our strong baseball tradition at
Mississippi State."
Among the former Diamond Dogs expected to return to Starkville for
baseball alumni weekend festivities are former Major Leaguers Eric DuBose and Jack Lazorko and Major League manager Nat Showalter.
"We've heard from former players from all over the country, some
that will be returning and others who wish they were," said Drye.
"We want them all to have a great weekend when they come home to
Mississippi State."
