The latest sports news from the MSU Media Relations Department...Men's Golf and Football.

Men's Golf
CORDOVA, Tenn. - Mississippi State's men's golf team completed the first two rounds at the Memphis Intercollegiate today with scores of 301 and 293 respectively. The Bulldogs currently stand third amongst the 16-team field with a score of 12-over par.

Improving on a sixth place finish in round one, MSU worked its way up the standings early in round two with the play of MState seniors Carlos Sainz, Jr., Josh Bevell and Noah Goldman who lead the Bulldogs in competition. Sainz is tied for 11th where Bevell and Goldman sit one shot back and are tied for 13th in the individual field.

Sainz, Jr., was tied for sixth after a first round 1-over par round of 73. Sainz, Jr. finished his second round with a 2-over par 74 to finish the second round of competition at 3-over-par. Bevell notched a 78 in the first round, but responded with a 2-under par 70 in the second round. Goldman posted back-to-back 2-over-par 74s and is tied with Bevell at 4-over-par for the tournament.

Fellow senior Matt Fast is currently tied for 30th with a two day total of 7-over-par. Redshirt freshman Lee Heaton is tied for 58th individually after a 12-over par performance after two rounds.

Entering the tournament as an individual, senior Logan Young is tied for 13th place overall in the field with matching scores of 2-over par in rounds one and two. Young's play as an individual does not count towards MState's team score.

Football
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State’s October 18 football game at Tennessee was not selected as part of the Southeastern Conference television package, the conference office announced today. University of Tennessee officials announced a 6 p.m. (CT) kickoff, with VideoSeat carrying a pay-per-view telecast.

Details of the pay-per-view telecast have not been announced, but fans should contact their local cable or satellite operators for more information.

Mississippi State’s game in Knoxville will mark the second of three Bulldog games in the month of October against opponents from the Volunteer State. MSU plays 13th-ranked Vanderbilt on October 11 and Middle Tennessee State on October 25.
