Soccer
STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Mississippi State soccer team’s scheduled trip to the Nicholls Select Gear Shootout in Thibodaux, La., has been moved to the University of South Alabama campus in Mobile due to the potential threat of Hurricane Ike to southern Louisiana.<> The Bulldogs (2-3) and Nicholls State meet in the tournament opener at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Head coach Neil Macdonald’s squad closes the tournament on Sunday, challenging the host Jaguars in a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.


Football
STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Mississippi State University Department of Athletics will honor the 1998 Bulldog football team, which won the Southeastern Conference Western Division championship and played for the league title in the Georgia Dome, during ceremonies on campus Saturday.

Members of the coaching staff and team are expected back for a luncheon that day and will be honored during halftime activities at the Mississippi State-Auburn football game. Kickoff for the SEC West battle is set for 6 p.m. CT.

A media opportunity is scheduled that afternoon with team members, who will be available for photographs and autographs with fans as part of Fan Fair festivities in the Junction prior to kickoff.


Baseball
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State University has set the weekend of October 18-19 as the date for the 13th Mississippi State Baseball Alumni Weekend on the MSU campus, State head baseball coach John Cohen announced Saturday.

The alumni game is scheduled for Sunday, October 19 with a 1 p.m. first pitch at Dudy Noble Field, and caps a full weekend of reunion events involving the former Bulldog baseball players, coaches, managers and trainers. That schedule also includes a a Saturday afternoon (1 p.m.) players golf tournament at the MSU golf course followed by an informal dinner for the players at the Bryan Athletic Administration Building. The alumni game is open to the public with no charge for admission.

"As an alumnus of Mississippi State, I am thrilled to be a part of this outstanding event for a special group of people," said Cohen, who played for the Baseball Bulldogs from 1987 to 1990. "We look forward to having the Bulldog Baseball family back in Starkville."
