DES MOINES, Iowa – Mississippi State junior Marrissa Harris wrapped up her season on Saturday afternoon, scoring 5,429 points to finish 14th in the heptathlon, at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The event was held at Drake Stadium on the Drake University campus in Des Moines.

“She just didn’t have a good day,” said MSU head coach Al Schmidt. “It was a long season for her and everyone else. I think they all just got a little tired. She learned a lot here and can take it into next season.”

In the long jump, Harris leaped 19 feet, six and three-quarter inches, threw 95-02 in the javelin and ran 2 minutes, 33.33 seconds in the 800-meter run.

MSU concludes the 2008 outdoor track and field season with two all-Americans in Golden Coachman (men’s 800-meter run) and Kendall May (men’s 100-meter dash).
