STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State Director of Athletics Larry Templeton announced Tuesday a reorganization of the athletic department’s event management and facilities department, pending approval by the Board of Trustees, Institutions of Higher Learning.

Bobby Tomlinson, who previously served as the department’s assistant athletic director for event management and facilities, has been promoted to associate AD and will add oversight of Humphrey Coliseum events to his job description. He will continue to manage athletic facilities and game operations for athletics.

With Tomlinson’s promotion, Brent Fry and Jay Logan have been named coordinators of event management and facilities. Additionally, Shaun Taylor has joined the staff full-time as an assistant coordinator of facilities.

Duffy and Brenda Neubauer, and Gail Langston will remain in Coliseum operations, while Don Edwards and Jason Rollins will continue in facilities management.

On the practice field Tuesday, Mississippi State worked another two and one-half hour session, following the same schedule as Monday. The team practiced approximately 90 minutes outside, where radiant temperatures reached 108 degrees, before making the short walk inside the air-conditioned Palmeiro Center for the final hour.

"I thought we came out a little tired, which is the way I expected we’d be at this time of year," head football coach Sylvester Croom said. "But we picked it up as time went along. Overall, we got better."

The head coach found signs of encouragement on both sides of the football, praising the defense for its work during nine-on-seven drills and the offense for its success on converting second-and-long situations. Specifically Croom called out linebacker Jamar Chaney (Fort Pierce, Fla.) and quarterback Michael Henig (Montgomery, Ala.) for their work.
