STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State junior defensive back Derek Pegues (Batesville, Miss.) and senior defensive end Titus Brown (Tuscloosa, Ala.) have been selected to the Pre-Season All-SEC Football Team, as selected by the media attending the 2007 Media Days in Birmingham, Ala.
Pegues was one of four defensive backs selected to the first-team. A second-team all-SEC defensive back and kick returner last year, he finished eighth in the conference in interceptions in 2006 with four picks, and second and fifth, respectively, in the league in punt and kickoff returns. His punt return yardage total was the fifth-highest single-season mark in school history.
Brown was chosen to the league’s second-team on the defensive line in 2007. A second-team, all-SEC performer a year ago by both the league’s coaches and the Associated Press, Brown finished third and fifth, respectively, in the league in ‘06 in tackles for loss and quarterback sacks.
