STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississppi State’s Golden Coachman will be apart of the United States Team that will compete in the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association’s (NACAC) Senior Championships this weekend in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The NACAC is comprised of 32 member countries and approximately 500 athletes will be on hand competing in the championships. The NACAC is affiliated with the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF). Events will get underway at San Salvador’s Jorge Magico Gonzalez National Stadium. The semifinals of the men’s 800-meter run are slated to begin at 10:05 CST.

Coachman is coming off an impressive performance at the 2007 AT&T USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. At the national meet, the Birmingham, Ala.-native set MState’s school record in the 800-meter run with a mark of one minute, 46.79 seconds. The previous school record was 1:47.40 set by Coachman at the 2007 Southeastern Conference Track and Field Championships. The junior earned all-American status at the NCAA Championships by virtue of his fourth-place finish in the two-lap event.

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador - Mississppi State’s Golden Coachman posted the second-fastest time in the semifinals of the men’s 800-meter run at the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association’s (NACAC) Senior Championships.

Coachman, a member of the United States contingent, recorded a time of one minute, 49.25 in the second of two heats. The Birmingham, Ala.-native finished behind Mexico’s Pablo Solares, who had a mark of 1:49.24. He will vie for medalist honors in the event finals on Sunday in San Salvador, El Salvador.
