The lastest sports news from the MSU Media Relations Department...

Women's Golf
SANDESTIN, Fla. - The Mississippi State women's golf team shot a spring-low 308 on Monday to finish fifth at the Chrysler Challenge held at the Baytowne Golf Club in Sandestin, Fla. State finished the tournament with a 953 and maintained their position from the second round on Sunday.

Junior Julia Huh was MSU's top finisher, shooting a 75 in the final round on Monday to finish in a tie for 12th. Senior Amanda Mathis shot a team low 72 and Suzanne Stanley an 80 on Monday, as both ended the tournament tied for 22nd. Sophomore Leigh Phillips finished the three-round tournament with a 251 while freshman Gina Sharp finished with a 252.

Florida State distanced themselves from the field in the final round, winning the team title by 24 strokes. FSU's Caroline Westrup maintained her lead in the final round and won the individual crown, ending the tournament with a 215.

MSU's next action will come March 10-11 when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Gainesville, Fla., to compete in the Suntrust Lady Gator Invitational.
