The lastest sports news from the MSU Media Relations Department...

Men's Golf
ORLANDO, Fla. - Mississippi State opened the spring season with rounds of 299 and 293 on the opening day of the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate in Orlando, Fla. on Monday. After two rounds, the Bulldogs are tied with Big 10 foe Ohio State and Wichita State for tenth place.

MSU's Brian Mason paced the line up with rounds of 74 and 72 at the par-72 course. The Dallas, Texas-native stands tied for 20th on the individual leaderboard after 36 holes of competition. A trio of MState competitors completed day one of the event tied for 40 th. Junior Jake Lambert registered the low-round of the first round with a 1-over par 73. Sophomore Noah Goldman, opened with a 5-over par 77, but rebounded in the afternoon round for an even-par 72. Carlos Sainz, Jr. finished up the scoring with rounds of 75 and 74.

Tulsa holds the clubhouse lead heading into Tuesday's final round at 4-under par. The Golden Hurricane, who were paired with MSU on Monday, posted rounds of 284 and 288. UT's Brett Myers sits atop the individual standings after back-to-back rounds of 68.,p. State will conclude the 54-hole event on Tuesday.
