Bulldog tailback Anthony Dixon
led all SEC freshmen runners with 668 yards. Dixon tallied nine rushing touchdowns which was second most in the conference. The first team selection is the second for Anthony as the Sporting News also gave Dixon first team recognition.
Linebacker Jamon Hughes recorded seventeen stops in limited action.
Craig Jenkins started in spot duty at the tackle position as well as provided solid depth.
Earlier in the week, senior linebacker Quinton Culberson was named first team All-SEC defense by the coaches as well as the Associated Press.
Junior defensive end Titus Brown also made both teams as a second team defender as named by the coaches and the AP.
Derek Pegues picked up second team honors as a defensive back by the coaches.
Deljuan Robinson was selected second team defense by the coaches.
The seventh annual coaches All-SEC Freshmen team was announced on Thursday with three young Bullpups on the list.
State trailed only Kentucky who led all teams with four selections. Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State and Tennessee placed three. Georgia, Ole Miss and South Carolina has two youngsters named to the rookie squad. Vanderbilt had one player honored.
