Norwood Tabbed for SEC Honor

STARKVILLE, Miss. -­ Mississippi State senior halfback Jerious Norwood (Brandon, Miss.) was selected the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his role in the Bulldogs' 35-14 win over Ole Miss this past Saturday, the league office announced Monday.

Norwood, who rushed a career-high 34 times for 204 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught a 5-yard scoring pass, in the victory over the Rebels, was also nominated for the Cingular Wireless/ABC Sports All-America Player of the Week Award. He is one of four nominees for the national honor, an award chosen entirely by the fans. To vote, fans may acquire more information at

Norwood has also been named a finalist for the Cellular South Conerly Award, given annually to the state of Mississippi's top collegiate football player. The winner will be announced Wednesday night at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
