Charles Burns, who played for Hattiesburg (MS) High School, talked about the coaches that have come to his home for in-home visits and which schools are his leaders.

Charles Burns Profile

What schools have offered scholarships?
"Ole Miss, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Marshall and Memphis."

Have you set up any official visits?
"I have one official visit. It's with Mississippi State January 14th."

Have any of the coaches come to your house for an in-home visit?
"(MSU head) Coach Croom and (MSU assistant) Coach Kitchens came Sunday."

How long did they visit?
"About 2 hours."

Did your parents get to meet Coach Croom?
"Yeah."

What did they think about him?
"They loved him. My mom said the first thing she remembered him saying was that the first thing he wanted to do was make sure I graduated. He said that is part of his job. He was going to make sure he looked after me and made sure I was in class. He said he was going to stay on top of me and keep her informed. She liked that."

Have any other coaches visited you?
"I talked to (West Virginia assistant) Coach Trickett at school the other day."

Have any other coaches set up in-home visits with you?
"(Ole Miss assistant) Coach Luke did but he got fired. They fired the entire coaching staff. I couldn't believe they fired him (Coach Cutcliffe). Can you believe that? I don't understand. He had 5 winning seasons in 6 years. This was his first losing season."

What are your feelings about Ole Miss now?
"They are alright. I don't like them like I like Mississippi State."

Who are your favorite schools?
"Right now, I am looking at West Virginia and Mississippi State."

Why those two?
"They both have my interest. I just like Mississippi State. I've been loving Mississippi State for a long time. I like the fact that Coach Croom came in. I like the way he talked. I like his style of coaching, he is strict. He is a man of his word. I just like Coach Croom, period. I like Mississippi State."

Just about every time I talked to you, you mention how much you love Mississippi State. Are you close to committing to them?
"I'm waiting on my dad. He doesn't want me to do it right now. He wants me to look at everything before I make a decision."
