McNeil very well could be practicing again Tuesday. He appeared to be fine yesterday and was held out of practice more as a precaution.
Brian Anderson played center in place of McNeil. Avery House backed him up.
Deljuan Robinson practiced in Willie Evans place during yesterday's practice.
With Norwood out, Fred Reid was running first team while Derek Ambrose was running second team.
Jonathan Lowe, who was injured near the end of Saturday's game was returning punts yesterday and also practiced with the receivers. It appears he is fine.
Although he wasn't in a red cross jersey, McKinley Scott mostly watched yesterday while he recovers from an injury.
LB Marvin Byrdsong practiced a little at defensive end yesterday, although most of his snaps came at linebacker.
TE Dezmond Sherrod made two good catches back to back during one of the 7 on 7 drills.
Louis Ellis, DL, 6-2, 285, Lanier (Jackson, MS) HS - A correction. Ellis didn't unofficially visit Mississippi State this past weekend. He told me that he stayed home and didn't visit any school.
Johnny Carpenter, OL, 6-3, 290, Citronelle (AL) HS - John told me that he has offers from Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Ole Miss and UAB. Ole Miss offered last Thursday (Oct. 28) and UAB last Friday (Oct. 29). Southern Miss and MSU offered last spring. He plans on visiting MSU the third weekend in January, although nothing has officially been set. His top five are Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, UAB and Alabama.
Jimmy Johns, QB, 6-3, 227, Brookhaven (MS) HS - He has offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Auburn, Memphis, West Virginia and Iowa. His top two remains Mississippi State (leader) and Auburn. Although he lists MSU as his leader, he said it was more due to the fact that he is more familiar with them than he is with Auburn. He has one official visit set up as of now, MSU the third weekend in January.
