Lanier High School defensive lineman Louis Ellis talked to Gene's Page about his commitment to Mississippi State.

Louis Ellis Interview

Why did you commit to State?
"First of all, I liked the environment up there (at Mississippi State). Plus, I can go home everyday. I know I can go home from Ole Miss, but I can come from Mississippi State everyday. I know my way up there well because I have been up there so many times. And I like the coaching staff. I went there this summer for a camp. That was what really made me like them."

How did Coach Croom figure into your commitment?
"When I went up there this summer, he talked to me a couple of times. I thought he could be like a father figure to me."

What schools came in second and third for your commitment?
"Ole Miss and USM."

The commitment gives Mississippi State eight commitments (see list below).

  • Louis Ellis, Lanier HS DL
  • Craig Jenkins, Pearl HS OL
  • James Redmond, Co-Lin CC OL
  • Chris Spencer, Meridian HS OL
  • Ty Evans, Lexington HS QB
