Rookies Battle Veterans in Maroon-White Game

STARKVILLE, Miss. - It will be the rookies going against the veterans Friday evening at Dudy Noble Field when Mississippi State kicks off Homecoming 2004 activities with the annual Maroon/White Baseball Game. First pitch is set for 4:15 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.

Friday's scheduled 10-inning game offers fans a preview of the 2005 Mississippi State baseball edition. State returns six position starters and 15 other lettermen from the 2004 team that posted a 35-24 record and advanced to the NCAA Atlanta Regional at Georgia Tech.

Junior outfielder Brad Corley, who earned first-team all-America and All-SEC honors last season, heads up the 21-player veteran squad. Corley paced MSU at the plate, hitting .380 with 19 home runs while driving in 55 runs.

Immediately following Friday's game members of the MSU Dugout Club will join the MSU coaches, players and staff for its annual meet the team dinner at Dudy Noble Field.

Still ahead this fall at Dudy Noble Field are the fall practice-ending Banana Split series Oct. 12-20 and the 11th MSU Alumni Baseball game, Oct. 17 at 1:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission to MSU's fall baseball events.
