Omarr Conner interview:
You were moved from quarterback to wide receiver. Was that expected or were you a little surprised by the move?
"I kind of knew it might happen but it was still a little surprising. I knew when it came down to it, I was going to do what was best for the team. And I'm a team player. I did the move and I'm proud of myself."
Did the coaches tell you that this move was just for the fall and that you would be moved back to quarterback during the spring?
"Yes sir, it's only temporary. It's just to help my team in the best position that I can. It'll help me get exposed to playing in the SEC. Coach Sherrill knows what's best for me."
Do you think playing wide receiver this fall will help you as a quarterback in the long run?
"Yes sir, it'll help me learn the system."
Did you play wide receiver in high school or junior high school?
"I played receiver in high school and on my 9th grade team. I was playing on both the high school team and the 9th grade team my 9th grade."
It looks like you may play this year. What is your preference, to be redshirted or to play?
"It really doesn't matter to me. It's Coach Sherrill's decision. If he sees fit that I should play, then I'll play. If he doesn't, then my time is next year."
What positions have you played in practice?
"Punt returner and receiver."
Are you going to be the backup punt returner?
"Basically, the backup. I believe Nick's (Turner) going to be the guy."
Now that you've been at State for a few weeks, what do you think about your decision to choose State?
"It has been everything that I wanted. A couple of weeks back I was going through some things due to my ACT test and Coach Sherrill always stood with me no matter what. He stood by me and I appreciate him for that."
