Guidry going where it "felt like home"

Mississippi State picked up its second commitment Thursday when four-star Briston Guidry made the call...

This commitment was not one that was planned for weeks. Briston Guidry has just completed his sophomore year of high school, he visited Arkansas and Mississippi State for spring games, and he was just working hard for his junior season.

On Wednesday though, he felt he was ready to make the call and commit to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

"I was ready to get it [the recruiting process] overwith," said Guidry when asked about his commitment to the Bulldogs. "I picked Mississippi State over Tennessee because I felt it was the best school for me.

"It felt like home, I like the coaching staff, and it fits me good academically at Mississippi State."

Guidry has already visited Starkville twice and he will be back on June 18 for his third visit.

When the 6-foot-3, 265 pound defensive lineman committed to the Bulldogs, he spoke with head coach Dan Mullen and defensive line coach David Turner. "They were excited and pumped up about my commitment," said Guidry.

The Metairie (La.) Rummel rising-junior is solid to the Bulldogs, but he does plan to visit other schools.
