A Trio of Early Options for Barnes

Wide receiver Kennan Barnes emerged as one of the top pass catchers in the state of Mississippi during his junior campaign. A strong season was soon followed by an early offer from Mississippi State. As the year comes to a close, Barnes has netted two more college football scholarships.

"My coach asked me late last week if I was ready for my second offer," said Barnes. "He told me that Ole Miss was ready to offer me and I was supposed to call one of the coaches.

"I called and talked with them and they told me that they were going to be recruiting me hard and that I had an offer from them.

"He wants me to keep in touch with them and he wants me to come to their junior day in January."

Before the weekend began, Barnes offer list had grown from two to three.

"I had a message on facebook from one of the coaches at Louisiana Tech and he wanted me to call him," said Barnes. "I called him and he told me that they wanted to offer me a scholarship and they want me to come and visit the campus soon."

With an offer already in hand from Mississippi State, Barnes admits to being a little surprised by his early run of new offers.

"I wasn't expecting all of this," said Barnes. "I was hoping I would get some offers, but I didn't think they would come this early.

"I am going to really take my time and get to know all of these coaches and go see the schools and see where I fit the best.

"I just need to find the best place for me to go and I have time to do that."
