"I stay pretty busy," said McLaurin. "I play football, basketball, baseball and I run track.
"I am playing basketball now and I feel like I am doing pretty good."
While McLaurin is in basketball mode, he understands his college future is on the gridiron rather than the hardwood.
Several college coaches have come through the Collins High School hallways in an effort to learn more about the rising star.
"Mississippi State has offered me, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette are all showing me interest too," explained McLaurin. "Some of them have offered too, but I would have to ask my coach about all of that."
The Bullodgs of Starkville presented McLaurin with an offer early on and that ice breaking effort appears to have made an impact on the projected safety.
"I like Mississippi State's football team and I feel like that would be a good place to go to school if I went there," said McLaurin. "I watched them on TV some and they have a pretty good team."
McLaurin is content to let the recruiting process play out before he makes any decisions about his football future.
"I am not sure what I am going to do," said McLaurin. "I just want to take my time and see who all offers me before I make a decision."
