MSU Hosts Auburn-Montgomery

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Rick Ray is set to lead Mississippi State into his second season as the Bulldogs hosts Auburn Montgomery in an exhibition game Sunday, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. at Humphrey Coliseum.

Admission to the season-opening contest will be free. HailState TV subscribers can view live video coverage of the game with Jim Ellis and Bart Gregory providing commentary.

MSU returns seven players from last season, including forward Gavin Ware. The Starkville, Miss., native was named to the 2013 SEC All-Freshman Team after averaging 8.4 points and a team-best 6.4 rebounds a game.

Leading scorer from a year ago Craig Sword, returns for the Bulldogs after collecting SEC Freshman of the Week honors twice last year. The 2013 SEC All-Freshman Team member averaged 10.6 points per game for the maroon and white.

Ray also welcomes several newcomers to this year's team, including guards Dre Applewhite and Jacoby Davis, who both missed last season with ACL injuries.

Auburn Montgomery will compete in two games in the Jimmy Faulkner Classic before challenging the Bulldogs.

SSAC All-West Division selection Quay Davis is one of five players returning for the Warhawks. Davis averaged 11 points and 2.7 assists per game in his debut season for AUM.

MSU is 2-0 lifetime against Auburn-Montgomery with the last game played in 1982.
