Coach Bilderback, Assistant Coach of Purvis, gave us a few minutes to talk about his star and what he sees for him at the next level.
"Markell is a guy who has a big frame as it is already," he said. "He has really soft hands and strong hands as well and is able to catch the ball away from his body. He's just natural at catching the ball.
"Not many guys have the ball skills he has in High School. He also has the other tools, like speed, big body, and he can leave someone if he has to. He has all the tools to be an elite receiver at the next level."
With offers from all three schools, Pack is going to take his time and evaluate everything as the process takes it course.
"He's going to look at every school that approaches him and talks to him," he said. "Ole Miss and State were the first two to offer, and now that Southern Miss is in the mix he's just as interested there.
"He took a junior day at Alabama and he's going to junior day at the other three in-state schools as well."
As Coach pointed out, he has all the physical tools, but what sets him apart is that he is a very high character guy as well.
"He's a kid that comes to work everyday, and is a natural leader as well," Coach said. "He works extremely hard in the weight room, and his only other sport he plays is track to condition himself and stay in shape.
"Football is his passion and every year the commitment he's put in has been more and more. He's strong and lanky because he works so hard. He can put 400lbs and deep squat it, and he's worked hard to develop the ability that God has given him."
Coach said he certainly projects on the outside at the next level with his unique blend of speed and strength. He could probably play anywhere, Coach said, but his unique ability as a pass catcher make him a clear cut WR at the next level.
"He is really a freak of nature," he said. "He took snaps at RB, QB, WR, safety, CB, and he even punted. If you can do all those things you must be a very skilled athlete.
"He's a great kid who is a hard worker and will make a great one at the next level."
We'll stay up to date with Pack and others from the class of 2014. Stay tuned.
