"I talked with Dave Wommack and then Coach (John) Carr texted to let me know they offered," Sims said. "I was happy."
"I'm going to Alabama's junior day and I'm flying up for Washington's junior day in February," said Sims, one of the nation's top 300 prospects.
Washington holds a commitment from Ouachita senior Caleb Tucker, who has a close relationship with Sims.
Sims hauled in 40 catches this fall for an impressive 1,000 yards and 10 TDs for the Lions.
He's now busy on the basketball court.
"I'm on my way to a game right now," he said. "We're going to play Carroll. I'm already averaging 18 points per game with a season-high of 25 in an earlier game against Carroll.
"A few weeks ago we went to the Zachary Tournament and played (defending 5A state champ) Scotlandville. We were up by eight points but lost by five."
