Rhashid Bonnette evaluation

Rhashid Bonnette is a 2015 wide receiver from Loreauville who easily led the region in yards per catch (24.9)...

During the regular season, sophomore wideout Rhashid Bonnette caught 27 passes for 672 yards and 10 TDs for the Loreauville Tigers.

Bonnette led his team and ranked eighth among Lafayette-area prospects in receiving yardage. His 25 yards per catch easily outdistanced all other receivers in the region.

While Bonnette is listed at 6-foot-0, 160 pounds on this year's highlight reel, he's actually closer to 6-1, 180 pounds.

The younger brother of Loreauville junior QB Raymond Bonnette, Rhashid is the squad's home-run threat. His estimated speed is in the 4.45-to-4.55 range.

On tape, Bonnette shows the ability to get separation, whether it's running right past a cornerback on the fly or locating a seam to sit in on a short route.

The sophomore plays with enthusiasm, emotion and confidence. He occasionally takes the pedal off the accelerator near the end zone and although it didn't cost him any touchdowns, you'd rather see him motor full throttle past the goal-line and not coast.

Bonnette's passion for the game shined through on a long kick return in Loreauville's season-opening 54-31 win over Central Catholic.

When he broke free of the pack en route to what appeared to be a touchdown (a teammate's blocking infraction actually wiped out the play), the sophomore displayed a thousand-watt smile that was only visible to a few sideline observers.

Bonnette was jubilant as he gobbled up the open real estate on the return vs. Central Catholic, and that type of elation is contagious.

He is deceptively strong for a lanky young player, easily bouncing off defenders to break tackles. Bonnette has a natural talent for slicing and cutting through busy traffic on bubble screens and returns.

He'll get even more special teams touches next year with senior Jermaine Antoine gone.

Bonnette is explosive after fielding kicks and punts. He doesn't wait around needlessly for a hole to develop. Instead, he surges forward at full speed and often blazes a path to big yardage with his trademark cuts.

He doesn't hesitate to use every available corner and quadrant of the field when the ball is in his hands.

Bonnette is a bona-fide BCS talent who has drawn lofty praise from college coaches that reviewed his sophomore footage.

He's also an above-average student.

LSU and Miami are two particular programs of interest.
