Mehinti is near a decision

Tosin Mehinti

A decision should come shortly for three-star center Tosin Mehinti.

Three-star big man Tosin Mehinti from Decatur (Ga) Greenforest Academy opened eyes over the summer running on the EYBL circuit with the Southern Stampede. The athletic big man pulled in high-major offers, and now he is nearing a decision.

At 6-foot-9 with long arms and good athleticism, Mehinti made some plays all summer long on the block. His ability to run the floor and be an excellent defender led to scholarship offers, and now he is nearing a decision.

Already Mehinti has made visits to Georgia and Mississippi State, and another is set up to UAB for this upcoming weekend.

When it comes to Georgia, the Bulldogs and Head Coach Mark Fox have been very active since July recruiting him, and Mehinti likes the school.

"It is a great school," said Mehinti. "They have a good program and the campus is really, really good. The coaching staff is great. Overall I think Georgia is a good place."

In terms of Mississippi State, Mehinti liked what he saw following his official visit, and the Bulldogs are very much in the mix.

"It was a good trip," said Mehinti of Mississippi State. "They have a real nice coaching staff. They play in the SEC and that is obviously a great conference."

Up next for Mehinti is a weekend visit to UAB. The Blazers have made him a priority. On the visit he will be looking for the same thing he has paid attention to on the other two trips.

‘I am just looking for where I can fit in at," he explained. "I want to play some as a freshman, and then as a sophomore where I can play a lot. Also I want to go to a place where I can get better."

When it comes to a decision, the schools involved won't have to wait too much longer to figure out where he is headed.

"I am probably going to decide in two weeks," said Mehinti.

Mehinti is a three-star prospect and one of the better available post players in the country.
