Westgate Photo Gallery

Westgate is one of the newer Class 5A schools in the state, and the Tigers have quickly established themselves as a staunch playoff contender over the past decade. Ryan Antoine, in his first year as head coach of the Tigers, was the defensive coordinator during the New Iberia-based school's run to multiple semifinal appearances. Antoine is back at Westgate following a stint at West St. Mary.

Westgate reached the first round of the playoffs last year before losing to Mandeville. The Tigers hope to go farther this fall with LSU commit Josh Boutte (6-5, 320) anchoring things on both sides of the ball (at OG and DT).

Antoine is bullish about '16 OLB Ja'Ceiry Linzer (6-2, 205), who is already on the radar of LSU.

I was struck by the size and athleticism of '13 S Trevontae Williams (6-3, 205).

The Tigers also have three young linemen to go along with tailback Jamal Sam (6-2, 220), who can run over you or around you in the Tigers' I-option offense, which will remain the same in terms of overall philosophy and look.
