  • Position: Quarterback
  • HT: 6-foot-3, WT: 165

Caleb's dad, Chris Wilson, is the Mississippi State defensive coordinator. With a background like that you would expect him to gravitate to football. And he has. But he's also such a good athlete that he's also playing another sport, basketball, during the summer months.

"I'm playing AAU basketball with (the) Marc Rowe (program)," said Caleb. "This is my first year to play AAU in Mississippi. We played some basketball in Oklahoma but it was nothing like AAU ball.

"My (AAU) coach is Kevin Moses. We have been to New Orleans, Dallas, Jackson (MS). We will also go to Florida for an adidas showcase."

Caleb has enjoyed his first experience playing AAU ball.

"It has been a good experience," said Caleb, who plays three positions for his team - shooting guard, small forward and power forward. "Most of the guys on my team are highly ranked in the state of Mississippi. My goal is to be ranked like them someday."

He may just become a ranked player in a few months if how well he did at a recent college basketball camp is an indication of how good he is.

"I went to the Mississippi State Individual Camp and won the MVP Award at the camp," said Caleb. "I was a little surprised because a couple of big-time guys were at the camp. But I was happy with how I did at the camp."

The Mississippi State basketball coaches gave him some advice.

"I talked to (MSU head coach) Rick Ray and some of the assistant coaches after the camp," said Caleb. "They said they liked how I played and told me to keep working hard."

While he has enjoyed his time playing basketball, the sport he is already excelling at is football. And, as you might expect, in addition to his basketball playing he has also been busy playing football this summer.

"(Starkville High School) has been busy with 7-on-7 (games)," said Caleb. "We went to Mississippi State's 7-on-7 camp (in early June). And every Monday night we are doing 7-on-7 at Starkville High School. I have also been weight lifting three times a week."

The Mississippi State offensive coaches were impressed with what they saw while Caleb was at their camp.

"The coaches like me in the pocket," said Caleb. "They also like my frame and how tall I am. They told me to continue to work on my flexibility and my strength."
