No one can ever call Coach Melvin Smith low-key when commenting on his players. But even by his high standards, Smith's outlook on 2012 is mighty strong. "I feel the only place where you can find three better players than what we have at cornerback is the NFL," he said. "I feel like my three corners can go play anybody."

Strong stuff for sure. Yet none familiar with Mississippi State's cornerback corps will accuse the coach of over-stating his case. If anything, Johnthan Banks, Corey Broomfield, and Darius Slay ought to be graded the best combo of cornerbacks not merely in recent memory. This is quite likely the finest trio in program history.
