MSU Commitment Scoreboard Update Week 9

The MSU commitment scoreboard update is a free weekly feature during football season that allows readers to keep up with his the Bulldogs-to-be did in their final seasons before joining the team in Starkville next fall.

Will Redmond made the move to quarterback this week as East ran by White Station 31-36 to improve their record to 7-1 on the year.

Redmond connected with Brian Kimbrow on an 80 yard touchdown strike and Will found the endzone three times including a 40 yard 1st quarter scamper.

Torrey Bell had five tackles and two sacks as John Curtis destroyed Newman 41-0 for their fourth shutout of the season.

Curtis is now 7-0 and continuing to win by playing stellar defense and grinding things out on the ground offensively.

Xavier Grindle ran for 115 yards and returned a punt 56 yards for a fourth quarter score to lead East Marion (7-1) by North Forrest (5-4) and Lelland Ducksworth, 25-6.

Devon Desper and Madison Central continued their winning ways by blasting Vicksburg 52-21.

The Jags are now 6-2 on the year after opening up with two straight losses.

Deonte Evans and McComb (4-3) picked up an important league win last week as they got by South Jones 14-0.

McComb will look to improve their post season hopes next week when they play Wingfield (0-8.

Adairius Barnes and Port Gibson are now 7-2 on the year after a 40-0 shelling of Magee. The Blue Waves will play Richland (0-9) next week.

Cedric Jiles and Clinton (3-5) shut NW Rankin out for two and a half quarters, but the Arrows could not put together enough offense to pull the upset. The Cougars grinded out a 14-3 victory.

Next week Cedric will take on fellow Bulldog commitment Devon Bell as Clinton takes on Warren Central.

The Vikings fell to Murrah last week 26-20 to drop their record to 1-7 on the year.

Kivon Coman was held out of Friday night's game as he recovers from an injury, but Florence was able to gain the victory anyway.

A 48-27 win over Grissom brings the Eagles to 5-3 on the year.

Brandon Holloway as held out of the endzone this week and as a result Alonso tasted defeat for the first time on the season.

Holloway ran for 68 yards on 21 carries, but could never break the big one.

Plant City squeaked by 9-7.

Quadry Antoine also woke up with a loss on Saturday as Belle Chasse dropped to 6-1 after a 25-13 tussle with Edna Karr.

Belle Chasse will take on New Orleans power O.P. Walker next week in a huge game for both teams.

Ryan Brown and the Shaw defense are doing their part to stay in the game, but despite their best efforts the team suffered its' third straight loss this week.

McDonough 35 managed just enough offense to win 14-7.

During the three game losing streak, the Archbishop Shaw defense has only allowed 20 points combined.

Nelson Adams and Brandon fell to 4-4 after losing to Meridian 28-3.

The Wildcats have had the better go of it in this district battle. Meridian has not lost to Brandon since Coach Larry Weems returned.

Cole Carter and Caledonia found themselves on the business end of a 42-0 affair with Louisville. The Confederates are having a tough stretch and are now 3-6 on the campaign.

Nick James and Long Beach (5-2) lost to Pearl River Central in an upset Friday. The Bearcats lacked offensive consistency and as a result found themselves on the short side of a 32-17 contest.

Frederick Brown and Jim Hill continue to struggle through a season without a lot of rhythm. The Tigers are now 2-6 after falling to Greenville Weston 27-13.

Gus Walley and Greene County got blown out 55-13 by FCAHS. GCHS falls to 4-4 on the season.
