MSU Commitment Scoreboard Update Week 7

The MSU commitment scoreboard update is a free weekly feature that allows readers to keep up with how the future Bulldogs are doing in their final seasons before joining the team in Starkville.

Torrey Bell and Louisiana's #1 team in 2A, John Curtis, turned in an impressive performance this past Friday night.

Curtis shut out Riverside 48-0 to advance to 5-0 and put a virtual stranglehold on the district crown.

Quadry Antoine and Belle Chasse also improved to 5-0 after shelling Vandebilt Catholic 53-24. Quadry was able to save his energy for defense this week after playing most of the snaps last week due to an injury to a teammate.

This week Quadry will face off with fellow Bulldog commitment Ryan Brown of Archbishop Shaw.

Ryan will look to spark a turnaround this week. Shaw fell to St. Augustine 28-6 on Saturday night thanks in large part to five turnovers on offense.

Brandon Holloway had an efficient night for Alonso as he scored three more touchdowns, two on the ground and on a punt return.

The 38-0 blanking of Freedom High allowed Alonso to remain undefeated on the 2011 season.

Kivon Coman and Florence improved to 4-2 after an impressive 42-14 win over district foe Sparkman.

This week Florence will travel to Decatur in an important district contest. Both teams have a 2-2 record in league play, so a loss would be tough to overcome.

Nelson Adams and Brandon picked up a nice region win this weekend as they blasted Forest Hill 35-6.

The Bulldogs are 4-2, but more importantly 2-0 in district. A win this weekend at Petal would be huge.

After a strong start to the season, Caledonia and Cole Carter have fallen on hard times. The Confederates lost 20-6 to Leake Central.

CHS will look to end a three game losing streak when they host Houston this week.

Cedric Jiles has played a pair of future teammates head to head the past two weeks. After falling to Madison Central and Devon Desper a week ago, Jiles and Clinton got the better of Frederick Brown and Jim Hill High this past weekend.

The 44-20 win moved the Arrows to 3-3 on the campaign, while the Tigers fall to 2-4 and 0-3 in district.

Lelland Ducksworth tallied eight tackles as North Forrest, winners of four in a row, knocked off Richton 34-20.

Gus Walley and Greene County (3-3) picked up a win in district with a 14-10 victory over Bay High.

Gus is still his team's leading receiver with 19 catches and 266 yards.

Xavier Grindle ran for 113 yards, but Bassfield was able to keep him out of the endzone as the Yellow Jackets knocked off East Marion 13-7.

The Eagles fall to 5-1 on the season.

Nick James and Long Beach improved to 4-1 after an impressive 41-23 win over Pascagoula. Nick was credited with seven tackles on the evening.

After starting 0-2, Devon Desper and the Madison Central Jaguars have it going their way. Friday's 27-7 win over Murrah have the Jags at 4-2 overall.

Devon will get the chance to shake hands with a fellow commitment this week as his team takes on Devon Bell and Warren Central.

The Vikings picked up their first win of the season last week 35-34 over Greenville-Weston.

Devon converted all five extra points during the contest which proved to be a factor in the final outcome.

On the season Bell is averaging over 41 yards per punt and has 15 touchbacks in 15 kickoffs.

Deonte Evans did his part to help McComb earn a victory over Brookhaven, but it was not to be.

Deonte ran for 73 yards and two scores on offense and recorded seven tackles and two sacks on defense.

In the end Evans' efforts were not enough as they fell by one point and dropped to 3-2 on the year.

Adairius Barnes and Port Gibson knocked off Raymond 38-10 to improve to 6-1 on the year.

Will Redmond enjoyed a bye week last week. East (5-1) will take on Melrose this week in one of the top match-ups in the south.

Redmond has 16 catches this season for 321 yards and three scores.

Defensively, Will has 27 tackles, a pass break up and one interception.
