Clutch Bulldog Bats Seal Series With 7-4 Win

Naturally everyone associated with the home team left Oxford-University Stadium frustrated Friday. But none hurt more than Ole Miss pitchers. Repeatedly just a swing or miss away from escape, Diamond Dog batters beat them for clutch hits, and runs, in a 7-4 victory. "They always say a ‘two out rally'," mused outfielder Brent Brownlee. "And I think we made a definition of that tonight."

Mississippi State did define clutch batting, driving in six of their total scores with four well-timed hits. One of those and maybe the timeliest was courtesy of Oxford native Brownlee, as his two-out, two-on single in the top of the sixth inning scored both teammates and put the Bulldogs in front to stay.
