MSU Hosts MVSU In Single Game Tuesday Night

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State (29-18) closes out the non-conference portion of its 2011 home baseball schedule Tuesday night hosting Mississippi Valley State (18-31) in a single 6:30 p.m. game at Dudy Noble Field.

An early-season MSU-MVSU game rained out in Starkville March 8 had been rescheduled as part of a May 10 day/night doubleheader between the Bulldogs and Delta Devils. But with MVSU scheduled to play a Wednesday doubleheader at Louisiana Tech and the Bulldogs set open their three-game SEC series at Ole Miss Thursday, both teams agreed to meet once on Tuesday.

Sophomore right-hander Kendall Graveman (4-0, 3.67 ERA) will make his eighth start of the campaign for State.

The Bulldogs completed a three-game SEC series sweep at Tennessee Sunday and continue league play with a Thursday-through-Friday three-game set at Ole Miss. Thursday's series-opener at Oxford-University Stadium is set for a 6:30 p.m. start and will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

Following a 6-for-11 (.545) weekend at Knoxville senior third baseman Jarrod Parks continues to pace the SEC in batting average. The Madison, Miss., product sports a .419 batting average and a .554 on-base percentage. Parks reached base in 16 of 21 plate appearances in four games last week. Recommended Stories
