The Tupelo, Mississippi native will play his final home game as a Bulldog this Saturday.

Yeah, there was hurt, frustration, even a little anger maybe. A longer-term emotion after the first loss should better benefit the Bulldogs. “It humbled us more,” Preston Smith said. “To know we have to keep playing hard. Any moment we can slip up, somebody can dethrone us if we think highly of ourselves.”

Prescott: "We've Still Got A Shot"

He hadn’t seen the ranking himself, but had heard the word en route to Tuesday’s media meeting. Good word, too, about Mississippi State staying in the College Football Playoff rankings top-four. “They ranked Alabama #1, I’m guessing,” Dak Prescott said. “So our only loss is to the #1 team right now. We hate to have a loss but to anybody the #1 team is the best way to go.”
